Ryanair Hand Baggage Allowance

Each passenger (excluding infants) is permitted to carry one piece of cabin baggage on board (free of charge). Strictly one item of cabin baggage is permitted per passenger (excluding infants). Your handbag, briefcase, laptops, shop purchases, camera etc must be carried within your permitted 1 piece of cabin baggage. It should weigh no more than 10kg and not exceed the maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.

 

Ryanair Hold Baggage Allowance

Ryanair does not accept for carriage any individual item exceeding 32 kilos or with combined dimensions of more than 81cms (height), 119cms (width) and 119cms (depth). This weight limit does not apply to mobility equipment.

Each passenger may check in up to two checked bags upon payment of the applicable checked baggage fees by electing to purchase a checked baggage allowance of either 15 kilos or 20 kilos when make their initial booking.

There is no checked/hand baggage allowance for infants. However, one fully collapsible pushchair per child may be carried free of charge. Additional infant equipment such as car/booster seats and travel cots may be carried in addition to the personal checked baggage allowance up to a limit of 20kg per item.

 


Ryanair Excess Baggage Allowance

Any passenger exceeding their personal checked baggage allowance will be charged for excess baggage at the rate prevailing on the day of travel. This is currently £20/€20 per kilo (or local currency equivalent).

 

Ryanair Delayed or Damaged Baggage Information

If your baggage has been misplaced, the baggage desk staff at the airport will enter the bag details into the Worldtracer Baggage Tracing system and you will be given you a Property Irregularity Report number (PIR), you can then use the reference number on the (PIR) to check if there is any update on the tracing on your bag.

Should you find that your baggage is damaged, please immediately contact the Ryanair staff at the airport or their handling agents. Details of the damage to your bag will be entered in our baggage system and you will be offered immediate assistance.

Ryanair's liability for loss, delay or damage to baggage is limited under the Montreal Convention unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges paid.

Ryanair do not accept liability for fragile, valuable, perishable articles or baggage which is packed in damaged or unsuitable containers. It is recommended that all passengers obtain adequate travel insurance cover prior to their journey.

 

Ryanair Banned and Restricted Items

Passengers are not permitted to carry the following articles into the security restricted area and the cabin of an aircraft:

- Guns, Firearms & Weapons; any object capable, or appearing capable, of discharging a projectile or causing injury.

- Pointed/edged Weapons & Sharp Objects.

- Blunt Instruments: any blunt instrument capable of causing injury

- Explosives and flammable substances; any explosive or highly combustible substance which poses a risk to the health of passengers and crew or the security/safety of aircraft or property.

- Chemical and Toxic Substances; any chemical or toxic substances which pose a risk to the health of passengers and crew or the security/ safety of aircraft or property.

- Guns, firearms, ammunition and weapons (including replica items), paints, Christmas crackers, items with internal combustion engines such as chainsaws, model aircraft, lawnmowers, etc., may not be carried in any baggage (whether checked or unchecked)

 

The following items are not permitted in checked in baggage:

Explosives, including detonators, fuses, grenades, mines and explosives. Gases: propane, butane. Flammable liquids, including gasoline, methanol, flammable solids and reactive substances, including magnesium, firelighters, fireworks, flares. Oxidizers and organic peroxides, including bleach, car body repair kits. Toxic or infectious substances, including rat poison, infected blood, radioactive material, including medicinal or commercial isotopes. Corrosives, including mercury, vehicle batteries, and vehicle fuel system components which have contained fuel.

Guns, firearms, ammunition and weapons (including replica items), paints, Christmas crackers, items with internal combustion engines such as chainsaws, model aircraft, lawnmowers, etc., may not be carried in any baggage (whether checked or unchecked)

You must not include in Checked Baggage money, jewellery, precious metals, keys, cameras, computers, medicines, spectacles, sunglasses, contact lenses, watches, mobile phones, personal electronic devices, negotiable papers, securities, cigarettes, tobacco or tobacco products or other valuables, business documents, passports and other identification documents or samples.

Note: Any sharp objects in checked-in baggage should be securely wrapped to prevent injury to screeners and handling personnel.

 

Ryanair Liquid Restrictions

Liquids may be carried in your hand baggage but only in small amounts not exceeding 100 ml per article. You must place these in a transparent and sealable plastic bag with a volume of no more than 1 litre. The bag must be closed and the articles must fit inside it easily. One transparent plastic bag may be taken per person.

 

Ryanair Sporting Equipment Policies

Sporting equipment including but not limited to large fishing rods, golf clubs, bicycles, scooters, fencing equipment, surfboards, bodyboards, snowboards and skis and large musical instruments including but not limited to cellos, harps, double bass and drums are inherently unsuitable for carriage by airlines operating fast turnarounds such as Ryanair. However, these items may be carried in the hold of the aircraft in addition to your personal checked baggage allowance up to a limit of 20* kilos per item upon payment of an additional discounted fee per item, per one way flight if booked online. If the item is not booked until arrival at the airport or through a Ryanair call centre the full fee will apply.

Any item of sports equipment weighing over 20 kilos will be charged for the excess weight at the applicable rate per kilo. Bikes have a weight limit of 30 kilos.
